Volvo and NVIDIA plan autonomous driving
Volvo and NVIDIA consolidate their partnership to develop an advanced on-board computer system that exploits artificial intelligence, to be implemented in the next generation of automobiles.
The agreement will further consolidate the existing partnership between Volvo and NVIDIA. Last year the two companies started a joint project for the development of advanced systems and software for cars with autonomous driving functions.
The new IT platform will take advantage of the progress made by NVIDIA in artificial intelligence as well as computing power, enabling Volvo to make tremendous progress in implementing advanced driver support systems, technologies for managing energy consumption and customization options on board your cars.
Thanks to the addition of advanced all-round perception capabilities and a driver monitoring system, the new on-board computer will support Volvo in its efforts to introduce cars with complete and safe autonomous driving.
The first car equipped with the new on-board computer will be introduced at the beginning of the next decade.
